Installation
This guide covers the Windows installer. You do not need a development environment or the plugin SDK to use MultiShock.
Requirements
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, with an x64 processor
- PiShock account and compatible device
- Internet connection for account sign-in and shared device access
- A default web browser for PiShock sign-in
Release builds include the .NET runtime. The Windows interface uses Microsoft's WebView2 Runtime. If the app opens to a blank window, see startup troubleshooting.
Install steps
- Open the official MultiShock releases.
- Expand the release's Assets and download the Windows x64
Setup.exe, such ascom.pishock.multishock-win-x64-stable-Setup.exe. Choose a stable release unless you deliberately want a beta. Source-code archives and update packages are not installers. - Run the installer, then launch MultiShock.
- Continue with first-time setup. Review device limits before testing or starting a flow.
Only run one copy of MultiShock at a time. Installed and development builds use the same local data folder.
Updates and release tracks
The installed Windows app checks for updates at startup when Settings → General → Check for updates on startup is on. It downloads updates in the background and shows Update ready. Use Restart now in the same tab to apply a pending update; a pending update can also be applied at the next launch.
- Stable: default production track
- Beta: pre-release track with the newest changes
Choose the track under Settings → General → Release track. Switching from Beta to Stable can install an older version. Back up your data first, and check plugin compatibility after changing app versions.
Unpackaged development builds do not receive installer updates. See update troubleshooting if a release does not appear.
Other platforms
The source includes a Mac Catalyst target and an experimental Linux desktop target. Do not use the Windows installer on those platforms. See building from source for the current build requirements and limitations.
Uninstall
Use Windows Settings > Apps to remove MultiShock.
Keep a backup before uninstalling or reinstalling. App data is stored separately from the executable; see files and backups to locate or deliberately remove it. Reinstalling is not a substitute for resetting configuration.
